The Community Interaction Subsidy Program (CISP)
The Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Trinity College established the Community Interaction Subsidy Program (CISP) in the early 1990s. In the mid-1990s, the Dean of the Chapel began contributing funding to enable participation of staff recognized by the Office of Religious Life. The goal of CISP is to foster a greater sense of community on campus by promoting informal interaction by faculty, staff and undergraduates over meals in campus dining venues. CISP is open to faculty with undergraduate teaching appointments and academic administrators in Trinity College and the Nicholas School of the Environment and Earth Sciences (including the Marine Lab at Beaufort), regular exempt staff in Student Affairs, and staff engaged in campus ministry (limit two per organization) who are recognized by the Office of Religious Life.
Participants deposit personal funds up to $150 (min. $25 increments) in a special DukeCard account. The program sponsors match these funds dollar-for-dollar. The 2007-2008 program year begins on August 27, 2007 and ends on May 12, 2008. Applications and a Q&A sheet are available now. (Click below)
Applications must be renewed annually and should be submitted no later than mid-September to avoid having the prior year account closed. Remaining personal funds from the prior year may be carried over. New applications are accepted throughout the year until all matching funds are disbursed. Questions about the program should be directed to Caroline Nisbet, Assistant Vice President in the Division of Student Affairs at caroline.nisbet@duke.edu or 684-5450.
