First-Year Internship Program
First-year undergraduate students have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience with Duke campus departments during the spring semester. There are many First-Year Internships to choose from in a wide range of on-campus offices, departments, and centers. Each one offers a substantive project with explicit learning and skill-development goals along with guidance and support from a dedicated staff or faculty member.
The Duke Career Center’s Internship Funding Program aims to reduce the financial challenges associated with participating in a wide range of low-paying or unpaid internships, thereby achieving the following objectives:
Facilitating student participation in experiential career exploration
Expanding the diversity of internship opportunities in which Duke students participate
Through the generosity of corporate, individual and class donors, we are able to offer competitive grants ranging from $600 to $2,500 for students who accept unpaid or low-paying internships. Awards are available in the following categories:
Unrestricted (any employment sector)
Durham service (service internships in the Durham community during the summer months)
NEW - Fund for International Students receiving Need-based Financial Aid
