Student Groups

The Center for LGBT Life advises the following undergraduate and graduate student groups:

Blue Devils United

Blue Devils United is the student group for LGBTQ undergraduate students, allies, and friends. Blue Devils United seeks to provide social opportunities for LGBTQ students and their allies, outreach to students at Duke and in the community, and to advocate for the needs of LGBTQ individuals both at Duke and beyond.

DSGN: Duke Students for Gender Neutrality

Duke Students for Gender Neutrality (DSGN) is a coalition of students and organizations dedicated to working for accessible, gender-neutral housing options on all Duke campuses, as well as accessible, gender-neutral bathroom options in all Duke University buildings. Duke School of Medicine Gay Straight Alliance

The Gay-Straight Alliance is a Duke University School of Medicine and Davison Council-funded organization that works to provide a safe space for LGBTQ health professions students and their allies. We also work to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues within health care through social and education events.

DukeOUT

DukeOUT is a group that brings together the LGBTQA community among the various graduate and professional schools. We are working to increase interaction among the LGBTQ graduate and professional students, increase the visibility of these issues, fight homophobia and make Duke a more welcoming environment for LGBTQ students.

DUSON Spectrum

DUSON Spectrum is a nursing organization that is committed to the advancement of the health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other individuals of minority status through the practice of nursing advocacy. Through social, educational and community events, DUSON Spectrum promotes advocacy, diversity and inclusiveness at Duke's School of Nursing and throughout the nursing profession.

Fuqua Pride-Business School

Fuqua Pride is committed to building a community supportive of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) alumni and students. We invite you to join us. Networking offers alumni and current students access to each other and the opportunity for professional and social support.

OUTLAW

OUTLAW is a student organization dedicated to gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons both at Duke Law School and in society at large. OUTLAW serves its student population by providing it with a forum for the discussion of legal or political issues affecting gays, lesbian, and bisexuals. Membership in OUTLAW is open to any gay, lesbian, bisexual, or heterosexual person with an express interest in providing support for the equal treatment of sexual minorities. OUTLAW serves an important social function as well; it allows gay, lesbian, and bisexual students at Duke Law to establish friendships and identify other students with a commitment to our community.

Sacred Worth

The purpose of Sacred Worth is to serve the Divinity School community by increasing awareness of lesbians and gays in the church. All members of the community are invited to participate, and the group seeks to promote understanding about homosexuality in the church through various opportunities for discussion and dialogue. Sacred Worth also offers a confidential prayer group to LGBT and those questioning.

Womyn

WOMYN is an undergraduate publication published by and for LGBTQ-identified women and their allies at Duke University. The publication's goal is to promote a sense of community and validation of queer women at Duke University by reaffirming their experiences as an integral part of student life.  It hopes to encourage dialogue of queer women’s issues on campus and foster a sense of community and interaction within queer women themselves.
