DUPD investigates bomb threat
Early morning threat references “Bell Towers Residence Hall;” police determine threat isn't credible

The Duke University Police Department is investigating a report of a bomb threat early this morning that referenced “Bell Towers Residence Hall.”
Aaron Graves, associate vice president for campus safety and security, said officers responded to Duke’s Bell Tower Residence Hall after the 2:08 a.m. call and did a review of the building.
“At this time, we do not have information that would lead us to conclude this is a credible threat,” Graves said. “We are working to trace this call and will partner, if necessary, with state and federal authorities.”
The threat was reported at 2:08 a.m. Friday to a Duke police dispatcher by an operator for TDD, a telecommunications device for the deaf. The threat originated in Ohio and did not include specific information. The threat mentioned a “Bell Towers Residence Hall” and also an unknown building.
Bell Tower Residence Hall is home to approximately 140 first-year students on East Campus. They were notified of the situation by e-mail.
