Brotherhood, Friendship, and Commitment

Duke student Jay Ruckelhaus' future changed in an instant after a paralyzing dive into shallow water at Geist Reservoir. It appeared his dream to attend Duke was over, too. Through intensive therapy, Jay is now adapting to the world and now college life as a paraplegic. Assisting him is his long-time friend, Joe Witchger, who helps Jay throughout the day. With the encouragement of Clarybel Peguero, director of Fraternity & Sorority Life at Duke University, the Mu Chapter will be alumni initiating Joe as a member. The brotherhood that Joe shares with Jay, as well as his commitment to service, is a true testament to Pi Kappa Phi beliefs. We look forward to welcoming Joe into the Pi Kappa Phi brotherhood and are very proud of the men in our Duke chapter.
