For the first time in history, Conduent hosted graduate students, grad alumni, and Career Center staff at their global innovation and corporate hub in Morrisville, NC in July. The Employer Relations team in the Career Center organized the second annual Local Employer Site Visits this summer, and Conduent was eager to let us visit.

Conduent, a technology based digital interaction company, is best known for its blockchain, iOT, mobility, cognitive/analytics, automation, and end user engagement innovations. They’re the “internal trust partner” and service provider for 65 of the Fortune 100 companies, providing services in healthcare, transportation, multi-channel services, government pay, worker's compensation, and HR services.

If you’ve ever been curious about the data analytics behind the electronic highway toll collections, cameras at traffic lights, police officers’ bodycams, or facial recognition access control, then research some Conduent’s projects. They focus on combining industry research, technology and thought-leadership, and embed intelligence in everything they do.

Our site visit consisted of an introduction to Conduent, technology demonstrations, roundtable discussions, and networking. Conduent shared this tip for students:

When interviewing demonstrate skills you've learned and projects you’ve created, and quantify, articulate/communicate, and summarize what you did. There’s always room for creativity, exploring and trying new things.

Look for Conduent on campus: Stefan Rampertshammer is teaching a Decision Sciences course in the MEng program.

Graduate students in the Master’s in Computer Science and Statistical Science programs will spend time connecting with Conduent at the Industry Connections Event in November.

Don’t miss out on excellent local employers –do some research and keep an eye on CareerConnections.duke.edu for more events to meet employers from around the world through the Duke Career Center.
