Subject: Fall Move-In and COVID-19 Entry Testing

Good afternoon [[Profile..First_Name]]

Unique ID: [[Profile..University_ID]]

The end of summer is quickly approaching, and so we're writing today to share more information about your transition from summer and fall. There are three sections to this email: (1) entry testing, (2) key/fob pick-up, & (3) moving.

STEP 1: AUGUST 2-6 (THIS WEEK) - ENTRY TESTING

All Duke students must complete an entry test for COVID-19 prior to the Fall 2021 semester. We strongly encourage you to complete your fall entry test the week of August 2, in Penn Pavilion. (Please note that your DukeCard will be deactivated on Monday, August 9, and reactivated once you complete your entry testing.)

  • Sign up for an entry test here. Entry testing will be available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. EST.
  • After you sign up, we’ll email you a parking pass for the Card Lot, which you can use while you are being tested in Penn Pavilion (if you need it).
  • Complete your entry test at Penn Pavilion. When you do, you'll reenter the surveillance testing program. Remember to bring a mask to your entry test.

Like surveillance testing, you'll only be notified of your result if you test positive for COVID-19. If you don't hear anything, that means your test was negative. You can learn more about Duke's testing practices at the Duke United website

A note on vaccines: If you have not yet received your COVID-19 vaccination or do not have an approved medical or religious exemption, you'll be directed to check in with Student Health (beginning August 9, Student Health will be stationed in Penn Pavilion). Students have until Monday, August 23, to complete the university’s vaccination requirement. Failure to do so may result in the revocation of your campus access. More information about the vaccination requirement and how to update your vaccination status can be found at the Duke COVID vaccine website.

STEP 2: FRIDAY, AUGUST 6 - PICK UP YOUR NEW KEY/FOB

Please pick up your fall semester room key/fob at the appropriate campus housing office on Friday, August 6, between 8:30 a.m. - noon. or 1 - 5 p.m. Please note that the campus offices are closed over the weekend, so you must retrieve your new key/fob on Friday, August 6.

HRL 300 Swift Office | 300 Swift Lobby | 919-684-5813

HRL East Campus Office | Southgate Residence Hall (Trinity side) | 919-684-5320

STEP 3: AUGUST 6-9 - TIME TO MOVE!

Please complete your move over the weekend, and you can return your key from the summer to the appropriate campus office on Monday, August 9.

If you have any questions, please contact your respective campus office.

As a reminder, all plans, processes, and guidelines--including testing processes, masking, and other protocols--remain subject to change based on the continually evolving pandemic landscape. Be sure to check out Duke’s COVID-19 website for information and updates. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping keep the Duke and Durham communities safer.

Sincerely,

Housing & Residence Life
