  1. What are you studying at Duke and what are some of your campus involvements?

Liberal Studies is a very interdisciplinary program. It offers you the freedom and a lot of opportunities to explore. I have explored psychology, literature, creative writing, and Buddhism meditation. I like it very much. Now my focus is in creative writing and literary translation. As for campus involvements, I am in a poetry club, where I also did some acting.

  1. How do you like Duke/the US and how did you adjust to a different culture and environment?

I realized that time management is very important. You have to study, make friends, network. There are a lot of things to do and a lot of things going on. What worked for me is that I was able to make some best friends in my poetry club. I also try to get myself involved in many events and talks where I also made friends who share similar interests with me. I also meditate and do yoga to exercise and keep myself focused and calm.

  1. What do you miss the most about home?

Food. Chinese food! (laugh)

  1. What is your favorite spot on campus?

Nasher. I love Nasher. It’s a very modern, artistic, beautiful art museum. I really like the building. I also really like art and enjoy wandering around the Nasher to seek inspiration for my writing.

  1. What are you planning to do after graduation?

I am thinking about applying for an MFA program. My other plan is to apply for an internship related to publishing or literary translation. I am actually kind of tired of school now (laugh). So I want to work for some time before continuing my schooling.
