Sophomores did you know that the Career Center has a program exclusively for you called Sophomore Conversations?
Well, we do, and it is an amazing program. This program connects sophomores with companies and employers who are interested in engaging with you. Sophomore Conversations is typically offered on campus, however, it is currently being offered virtually. This program has more of a “coffee chat” vibe as it is usually open to a small group of students and focused more on information than recruitment. Keep in mind, some of the companies who participate are looking for interns and will provide that information during the session. You can view and register for these sessions through CareerConnections.
This week we would like to spotlight Vans and Alum, Jonathan Wilkins ‘14, as he recently hosted a virtual session to talk with students and answer questions. Jonathan discussed being unsure of what he wanted to do and where he saw himself after graduating. Although he was unclear of what his future held, he kept moving forward and stated, “it’s okay to not know what you want to do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make proactive steps to figure it out.” After a few internships and post-graduate opportunities, Jonathan has found himself at Vans working in business strategy. Duke students–If you were unable to attend the session, we have a recording you can watch! Just log in with your NetID.
Please take advantage of the Sophomore Conversations program so you can research and explore various industries, organizations, and roles as you are making decisions about your interests and career paths!
