1. What resources are available to start my internship or job search? 

You have quite a lot of options to use to assist you in your search. These are some good resources to help you get started: 

Navigating college as a first-generation and/or low-income student can be challenging in itself. Not knowing the resources that are available and how to access them can make things even more difficult. Did you know that there are quite a few Duke and non-Duke resources available to assist and support you throughout your college experience?

Take a look at 7 frequently asked questions I have received this spring/summer, these questions vary from following up with employers, preparing for online interviews, and connecting with alums.

Q: I’ve submitted applications to positions but I haven’t heard back from the recruiters, is it ok for me follow-up?

We are all currently in a stage of adjustment and learning how to adapt to our new normal. Whether that may look like doing everything (eating, sleeping, taking classes, working, etc.) from our homes, to being home with our entire families and trying to figure out how to find a quiet place to study, read a book, or simply collect our thoughts.

I admit it – I’m a scrolling fiend. Whether it’s staying up-to-date on news and events, checking up on friends, or simply taking a few minutes (okay… many minutes) to unwind, I find myself on Instagram probably too many times during my downtime. To try to alleviate that screen time guilt, I often try to find and follow accounts that I feel might be helpful to my personal development and growth.
