Users should use Duke's VPN in order to connect to Duke resources when not on the Duke campus network. The Duke VPN provides a secure connection to Duke resources.  Multifactor authentication will be required to log in to the VPN.


1.  Select the finder icon in your dock

2.  Select applications -> select Cisco -> Double click Cisco AnyConnect Security Mobility Client


3.  The field below should state or Duke VPN.  If it does not enter and click "Connect"

Adium is a unified communications application that provides instant messaging (IM) using Duke University's Jabber system.


Setting up Adium for the first time (If you need to "Edit your preexisitng Adium settings" skip to below)

SAP has updated their client to version 7.40 (previously 7.20) which will affect Windows 7 and Windows Virtual Server users. A update for the Macintosh OSX local installation has not been released.

Student Affairs ITS will deploy the update through IBM Endpoint Manager to all existing installations of SAP v7.20 starting 04/21/2015.  This action is autonomous and requires no action by users besides a restart of your workstation, which you will be notified by the management system to do so. The shortcut icon and login interface has gone through some subtle visual changes. Below is a walkthrough to familiarize yourself ahead of time.

Student Affairs ITS has upgraded the Virtual Windows environment.  This tool is specifically for Mac users who require use of applications that are not compatible on the Macintosh OSX platform.  Examples such as SAP 7.20 and web applications that run true format in Internet Explorer. It is reccomended that if you have any documents that you would like to save while working in this environment that you move it to your local desktop on your workstation or the Student Affairs NAS, submit a request by emailing if this is part of your workflow.

The Student Affairs Networked Attached Storage is a collaboration space for departmental files managed by Student Affairs ITS. By default full-time staff are provisioned access to only their assigned department’s staff and student folder(s).  Access to non-departmental, drop-off, and/or student employee access (includes graduate assistant employees) must be submitted in a request to Student Affairs ITS by e-mailing to track change management.
