Why should I take the time to reflect?

As the semester winds down, it is time to stop and reflect on what you have accomplished and check in with your career goals. What activities did you get involved in and where did you spend your time? What are you learning from these experiences? How did they impact what you are doing over the summer and fall? Will you choose to continue your involvement or let it go? How do you feel like you have changed and gotten closer to your goals? Answering questions like these will lead to better decision making in the future. Take time to journal, talk to family/friends/career advisor, or be with your thoughts to reflect on who you are becoming.

My name is Ching-Yi Wu. You can call me Catherine. I am a visiting scholar from Taiwan. I am carrying out research on intellectual property law at the law school

Why did you choose to research intellectual property law?

I have been in the field of law for eighteen years now. I am a judge in Taiwan and I’ve spent ten years being a judge at the criminal court and eight years as a civil judge. Let’s just say, I wanted to try out something new. Besides, I was not going to miss an opportunity to do research in the world class university that Duke is.

That is so impressive! How did your experience as a judge affect you as a person?
