Paul counsels Master's and Ph.D. students in all fields across the Social Sciences, Humanities, and STEM disciplines. He is committed to helping graduate students navigate the process of exploring, applying to, and transitioning to careers both outside and inside the academy.
Paul transitioned to Duke after completing his Ph.D. in Social Psychology at UNC-Chapel Hill, where he researched topics surrounding judgment and decision making, stereotyping, and emotions. He also gained outside consulting experience at The Strategy Team, Ltd., an applied social science research firm that provides strategic support for clients in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors, as well as Applied Research Associates, Inc., where he worked on a government-funded project aiming to improve probabilistic forecasting applications for the national intelligence community.
In his spare time, Paul enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their two mini-dachshunds.
Each day, we're asking students to reflect upon and share values, interests, skills and other individual preferences that relate to professional and career decisions. We know that the ability to articulate aspects of your own life story, publicly and in professional settings, is one of the critical components in any job or internship search. Listen to a recording of an essay about one of MY beliefs that I hold strongly enough to share with you.
Learn more about the This I Believe project and you could even record your own essay!
